Alzheimer's Association—Care For Life provides care for persons with all kinds of dementia. Our caregivers are given additional training in caring for persons with Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementias.
Worldwide it is estimated that about 16 million people have Alzheimer's disease, 4.5 million of them are Americans and we at Aegis serve nearly 800 everyday with this number climbing. This is an astounding number of individuals and families affected by this disease, and it's a number that continually grows. We have been involved with the Alzheimer's Association for over 20 years, and will continue to be involved until a cure is found. For more information or to locate your local chapter go to www.alz.org. In Charleston, 571-2641.

American Diabetes Association---Nutrition and some kind of daily exercise are important in controlling diabetics’ blood glucose levels. Care For Life encourages our clients to nourish themselves well and to exercise according to their doctor’s orders.
Diabetes strikes nearly 25% of our residents, a disease that has literally gotten out of control in America. There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States who have diabetes, and unfortunately nearly one-third are unaware that they even have the disease. Our residents, families, and employees are all affected directly or indirectly by this disease. We feel the cure is close and support the American Diabetes Association in fighting this disease. For more information go to www.diabetes.org.
