The Story of Care For Life
Care for Life was founded in 1995 by Mary Peters. After researching the healthcare needs of older people in Charleston, Mary saw a need for professional geriatric care management services to prevent hospitalization and nursing home placement in this population. Mary then designed Care for Life with a simple mission to keep Charleston’s older people safe and independent in their homes.
Mary has fond memories of her family’s elders, and those memories also drive Care For Life’s services. Her great grandmother and grandmother were larger than life, and they lived comfortably at home in their older years. In the past the elderly were assisted by their children, but these are different times, and Care for Life’s professional RN’s, Social Workers and Home Care Aides address the common problems associated with aging and chronic disease and work as a team with families and the community to allow elders to stay home.
During the past 25 years, Care for Life has cared for hundreds of older persons and advised their families. Mary has insisted on the highest quality home care and administrative staff. She also has worked as a team with multiple community resources.
Care For Life’s mission has remained the same for 25 years. Mary and her staff continue their dedication to keep older people safe and independent in their homes.
