Care For Life was founded in 1995 by Mary Peters. She saw a need for professional geriatric care management services to prevent hospitalization and nursing home placement in the elder population. Mary then designed Care For Life to keep Charleston’s older people safe and independent in their homes as long as possible.
Mary’s close relationships and fond memories of her great grandparents are the foundation for Care For Life’s values and services. In the past, senior family members were assisted by their children and grandchildren, but those times have changed. Care For Life’s RN’s, social workers, and home care aides develop care plans to address the problems associated with aging and chronic disease. Our practice is to follow a designated plan and work as a team with families and community resources to ensure elders stay at home.
During the past 25 years, Care For Life has cared for hundreds of older persons and their families and demonstrated a level of skill and experience that is the highest quality name in homecare.

OWNER AND FOUNDER
Mary Peters is the owner and founder of Care For Life. Ms. Peters credits the twenty-five year success of Care For Life to dedicated employees, steadfast collaboration with health professionals, community agencies and institutions, and the lifelong desire to educate and prepare Charleston seniors and their families for the later years.
Ms. Peters has worked for forty years at the national, state, and local levels in healthcare, business, and community work. She has worked in health care as an occupational therapist, federal lobbyist, hospital administrator, and educator. Ms. Peters received Certifications by The National Geriatric Care Management Association, The National Guardianship Association, and Leadership South Carolina. She holds degrees in Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Health Services Administration. Ms. Peters is a City of Charleston appointee to the Commission on the West Ashley Revitalization Committee. Ms. Peters enjoys bicycling vacations and beach reunions with her family. She is a golfer and belongs to many Charleston clubs and organizations.
Sheena Janse CRCFA, CM
Sheena Janse is an Aging Life Care Professional. She has been working with seniors for 30+ years. Prior to joining Care for Life, Sheena worked in a variety of senior care settings including: Sub Acute Rehab, Long Term Nursing Home, Assisted Living and Home Care. Sheena began her career in a mission based skilled nursing facility that drives her to incorporate the best interest of seniors served into the business model. Sheena attributes her lifelong passion of caring for seniors to the many hours spent as a child enjoying time with her Grandparents and elderly Great Aunts.
Volunteer activities include service on the Board of the South Carolina Association of Residential Care Homes (now SCALA), Greater Charleston Chapter in National Aging in Place and Low Country Senior Network. She serves on the Planning Committee for the Charleston Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Ann Marie Keck, LPN
Ann Marie handles all aspects of Care Management for clients living East of the Cooper including those at Somerby Retirement Community.
REBECCA SUTTON CMA
Human Resources and Scheduling Manager
Rebecca Sutton is the Care For Life Human Resources and Scheduling Manager. She attended the ICM School of Practice Management and also received her degree as a Registered Medical Assistant. Rebecca has extensive experience in Family Practice, Pulmonary and Internal Medicine Physicians.
“Becky”, a native of South Western Pennsylvania, moved to the Charleston area when her husband, Jody, became a sergeant with the Folly Beach Police Department. She enjoys doing crafts, spending time with her three daughters, grandchildren and dogs.
Joyce Stephenson, LPN
Joyce has been a nurse for over forty years and loves her profession. She has worked in a variety of settings from Obstetrics delivering babies, school nurse, hospital emergency room to senior communities including memory care, assisted living and skilled nursing.
She is originally from Illinois. She has three grown children and 7 grandchildren. Her sons are both serving our country- one in the US Army and the other in the US Navy. Joyce’s daughter and son in law moved to South Carolina 4 years ago and she followed them. she loves Charleston and is proud to call it her home.
Assistant Director of the WAYS program
Erica is a seasoned Certified Nursing Assistant and Med Tech who has worked in a variety of senior care settings such as assisted living, skilled nursing and Home care.
She attributes her passion in caring for seniors to having cared for her Grandmother at a young age. Erica’s mission is to care for others with compassion, all while providing humor and laughter.
She was born and raised in Charleston South Carolina (McClellanville). In her spare time she enjoys fishing and sitting by a barn fire. But most of all just to spend time with her family, especially her two beautiful daughters.
Cindy Fann is the Finance Manager at Care For Life. In this role, she manages all aspects of the Finance Department.
Prior to joining the Care For Life team, Cindy has handled the finance functions in a diverse range of health care organizations, including hospitals, medical practices and health insurance companies. Her years of customer service training shine through when she is assisting our clients, family members and staff
Cindy is a native Charlestonian who enjoys spending time with her husband, Chuck, her children, granddaughters and her little dog Buddy.
Jessica Morrison received her BS in Business Management from South Carolina State University. Originally from Shulerville, she relocated to the Charleston area to begin her career in the long-term care setting. She spent over ten years in the skilled nursing setting as a Housekeeping Supervisor and Account Manager. Her calm organized and friendly manner make her a natural fit in the role of Scheduling Coordinator.
Jessica is kindhearted and practices the motto “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” As the youngest of five children, Jessica is quick to help others and put them first. When she is not at work or helping others, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
